Hi, everyone. My group over at CountryXReader is hosting a contest. I know I don't really post much on here, but I'd be looking forward to reading all your entries and having a reason to write stories. Please check it out if you can.


Sparkling waters, salty sea breezes, and sandy...sand! The great stretches between land and sea leave many opportunities for a plot to unfold. With different universes and different time periods, new stories lie waiting to be told (or retold)! What sort of story will you share? Romance, fantasy, comedy, adventure, mystery, horror? The decision is up to you!

What we're looking for:

• A well thought-out story that takes place in a beach/coastal setting. It can take place out in the water as long as there's a beach/coast involved.
• Accurate depiction of Hetalia characters, personalities, and traits.
• Proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. This let's the judges get through the stories a lot easier, and it makes the plot flow better, too! Try your best and don't be afraid to ask for assistance!
• Creativity! We left the theme pretty open aside from the setting, so go nuts!

Rules

1) You must be a member of CountryXReader to enter.
2) 1 entry per contestant. All stories should be new.
3) No multiple-chapter stories. Only one-shots.
4) 1000-5000 words per entry. Please do not keep it too short or too long.
5) All entries must follow dA policies and group policies. That means no lemons and no un-cited preview pictures.
6) All entries must include a link back to the contest journal in their descriptions. Help spread the word!
7) No OC countries or OC readers.
8) No bullying or harassing fellow contestants.
9) Submit your contest entries into the "Going Coastal Contest" folder.
10) Have fun!

First query: From where/who/what did you realize Hetalia existed?

-I came across it on Youtube's Fumination channel

Second query: What was your first impression of the first episode. (Yes, that first episode, the voice actor's voices blending in and overlapping, and general havoc-wrecking and what say you)

-I thought it was crazy but the accents and depictions were really funny

Third query: Did you like, love or hate it at first and why? 

-I loved the show for its raunchy comedy

Fourth query: Before discovering how sentimental the fanworks and fan interpretation could get, would you have kept watching/reading?

-Yes!

Fifth query: When faced with the deepest/saddest interpretation of a character/country, what/who do you think is responsible for the fans' reception of this show in this way? The creator or the interpretation of the characters by the fans?

-I believe Himaruya never intended for Hetalia to be only one-sided in comedy. It has its deep moments, and I hope the fans get a better respect for the countries as characters more than boy-toy sex objects.

Sixth query: Do you think Hetalia (as a show) has bias of any kind?

-Totally but that doesn't stop me from watching

Seventh query: What is the most disappointing thing you've discovered about Hetalia and the countries themselves?

-That America has glasses when Caucasian men rarely find glasses appealing here. That always bugged me.

Eighth query: Do you think Hetalia is for everyone?/Do you think a show like this can be presented to just anyone? 

-Nah, it's for people 18 and up, and I think that's for a good reason. A lot of the stuff would fly over youngsters' heads and fail to create the right impact. 

Ninth query: For what reason would you think someone wouldn't like Hetalia at all, even after being educated about it? 

-I took my world history classes, and I can still love the comic and show for what they are.

Tenth query: Some Hetalians are fans for life, believe me there are Hetalia fans in their late twenties who love or still love the show. Would you think that you'd leave this fandom anytime in the future and what about it makes you think others wouldn't leave?

-I don't plan on leaving. The comic and show are still fresh and I love that there's no concrete storyline.

I haven't been on here in a while. Thank you all for the lovely comments, everyone. I'm surprised people still manage to find my stuff. I can't really reply to them all since I'll already be, like, two months overdue.
